Sites
In the first year, the EcoPLis project has tested four archaeological sites cronologically ranging between the Middle Paleolithic and the Chalcolithic. We also found 45 new sites during survey, ranging from the Acheulean to the Chalcolithic.
Gruta da Buraca da Moira
Gruta da Buraca da Moira is a well known site by the local population. We survey the cave system and tested a room.
Abrigo da Buraca da Moira
Abrigo da Buraca da Moira is a Chalcolithic necropolis cut by an old limestone quarry. Below the necropolis there is an Upper Paleolithic sequence with lithics, terrestrial fauna, charcoal and shells.
Abrigo do Poço
Abrigo do Poço has an Epipaleolithic occupation with abundant charcoal and shell above two Solutrean occupations with large lithic assemblages.

Praia do Pedrógão is a Mousterian open air site at the shore and suggests the exploitation of coastal landscapes and resources in the western-most coast
